Watercolor in arid climates

A recent trip to New Mexico reminded me of the challenges and benefits of painting in arid climates with watercolors. You have to work quickly as the paint dries so very fast, or adapt to a very dry technique.

This example was painted near Fort Marcy overlooking Santa Fe. Other examples can be found in the watercolors gallery.
